Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has emphasized his commitment to gratitude and responsible leadership amidst the current political challenges facing the state.

According to report from the nation, speaking during a gathering with stakeholders of the Ikwerre ethnic nationality at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Fubara expressed appreciation for those who have supported him and contributed positively to his governance.

Addressing accusations of ingratitude, Fubara refuted claims that he has ever demonstrated such behavior, arguing that his upbringing and character would not allow him to hide such traits if they existed.

He compared scrutiny of his actions to a child’s privacy in using the bathroom, suggesting that true character cannot remain concealed indefinitely.

During the meeting, which focused on solidarity rather than political disputes, Fubara acknowledged attempts to inject ethnic politics into the crisis but emphasized the overwhelming support of the Ikwerre community for his administration.

He reassured attendees of his administration's dedication to collaborative development efforts across the Ikwerre local government areas, thanking the community leaders for their steadfast endorsement and assistance.

Fubara pledged to uphold principles of respect, fairness, and equal opportunity in governance, vowing not to oppress any individual directly or indirectly.

He expressed his aspiration to leave a legacy of peaceful leadership, free from security concerns, highlighting his administration's ongoing projects and commitments to community welfare.

In response, leaders of the Ogbakor Ikwerre Worldwide and the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers praised Fubara's leadership and developmental initiatives, pledging continued support and urging him to remain focused amidst challenges. They affirmed their collective responsibility to safeguard peace and prosperity in Rivers State, endorsing Fubara’s commitment to inclusive governance and equitable progress.
