Kidnappers who abducted female victim and demanded for N2.5 million ransom land in police net

It was the end of the road for two members of a kidnapping gang who were said to have abducted a woman and demanded for the sum of N2.5 million as ransom, as they have been arrested by men of the Delta State Police Command, the command announced on Friday, April 26, 2024.

The state police command, which disclosed the arrest on its X handle, gave their names as Edadfe Akporere, aged 27 years and Igho Midiraya, aged 34 years, while other members of the gang were said to have fled on sighting the police officers and a vigilante group.

It was gathered that following a case of kidnapping reported at the A Division of the command in Ughellli by the husband of the victim who was abducted along Isoko Road, Ughelli, operatives of the division as well as members of a vigilante group in the area stormed Eruemukohwarian community suspected to be the hideout of the abductors.

According to the command, on sighting the police operatives and the vigilante group, the kidnappers took to their heels, abandoning the victim. The team was said to have pursued them, leading to the arrest of two of them.

Following their arrest and detention, the victim was said to have identified the two of them as part of those who abducted her, while they were said to have given more useful information to the police operatives.

They are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation, while a manhunt had been launched for the arrest of the fleeing members of the gang.
