Rivers Crisis: Court Ruled Oko-jumbo's Predecessor, Edison Ehie, Was Never A Speaker - Olaka Nwogu

In an interview with Arise News, Olaka Nwogu, a former senator, used a critical court decision to support his remarks on the predicament facing the Rivers State Assembly.

Nwogu claimed that, contrary to a Federal High Court decision from January, Oko-Jumbo's predecessor, Edison Ehie, was never legitimately elected to the position of Speaker.

He said that the court's ruling recognized Amaewhule's legitimacy as the Assembly's legitimate leader and approved all of his acts.

Nwogu's statement suggested that this action damages Oko-Jumbo's chances of becoming speaker while bolstering Amaewhule's leadership. He plans to use the court's ruling to weaken Oko-Jumbo's control attempts and increase Amaewhule's power.

In his words, "A Federal High Court explicitly ruled on it in a January ruling that the court ruled that Oko-Jumbo's predecessor, Edison Ehie, was never a speaker, and therefore all of Amaewhule's actions were lawful and valid."
