2 robbers who stole tricycle from where it was parked arrested, charged, remanded in prison custody

Two robbers who were said to have stolen a tricycle from where it was parked by the owner and arrested by men of the Enugu State Police Command have been remanded in prison custody after their arraignment, the command announced on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

The state police command announced the development on its X handle on Thursday, saying the two men, whose names were given as Friday Ogbu, aged 31 years and Onovo Sunday Udochukwu, aged 34 years, were arrested by the operatives serving in the Enugu Area Command.

According to the command, following the report lodged by the owner at the area command, who said his tricycle was stolen at the Achara Layout in the Enugu metropolis, police operatives swung into action and succeeded in arresting the two men while the tricycle was recovered.

The command wrote: "The tricycle was recovered upon the arrest of the suspects, while the owner of the tricycle was located and he identified the tricycle as his."

The two robbers were eventually charged to the Enugu South Magistrate's Court and arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The court ordered them to be remanded in prison custody till the next adjourned date.

Many residents of Enugu metropolis and other parts of the state have expressed concern over increasing cases of theft of tricycles, while in some cases, the riders were attacked and killed.
