According to Channels Television, 75-year-old Hajiya Halima Adamu, the mother of renowned Hausa political singer Dauda Adamu, also known as Rarara, was kidnapped from her home in Kahutu village, Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Eyewitnesses reported that the abduction occurred around 1:00 am, shortly after a group of bandits armed with AK-47 rifles infiltrated the village. A local resident told Channels Television that the assailants arrived barefoot and carried out the kidnapping within minutes.
“The bandits stormed the village barefoot and operated for a few minutes. Upon their arrival in the village, the bandits went straight to the residence of the victim and picked only her, ignoring other people they met in the house,” he said, describing the swift and targeted nature of the attack.
Efforts to contact Rarara for comments were unsuccessful as the singer did not respond to repeated calls. However, the police in Katsina State confirmed the abduction in a statement released later on Friday.
Police spokesperson Abubakar Sadiq revealed that two suspects had been apprehended in connection with the kidnapping. According to Sadiq, the Danja Divisional Police Headquarters received information about the abduction around 01:30 am.
“Upon receipt of the report, promptly, the DPO Danja led a team of operatives to the scene with a view to arresting the culprits and unhurt rescue of the victim,” he explained. “During the investigation, two suspects were arrested for questioning. Further development will be communicated in due course as the investigation proceeds.”
