Fabrizio Romano confirms £70m star has ‘agreed’ Man Utd move as Ratcliffe unearths ‘smart’ transfer

Manchester United remains keen on signing Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, despite their initial £38m bid being rejected. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 21-year-old has given the green light for a move to Old Trafford and has already agreed to personal terms.

United's minority shareholder, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is determined to strengthen the squad this summer while adhering to financial regulations. To achieve this, he plans to offload high-earning players like Casemiro, which would save the club £43.68m per year in wages.

Ratcliffe has identified four marquee signings as a priority, including a center-half, midfielder, striker, and right-sided attacker. Manuel Ugarte, a PSG midfielder, has also expressed interest in joining United.

Despite Everton valuing Branthwaite at £65-70m, United is preparing an improved offer to secure his signature. The club faces competition from other suitors, including Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt, but remains hopeful of striking a deal.

Romano confirmed that Branthwaite is eager to join United, and personal terms are not an issue. However, the final decision depends on the clubs reaching an agreement. United is expected to make a second bid, and negotiations are ongoing to bring the talented young defender to Old Trafford.
