The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has clarified the roles of the President and security agencies in tackling criminality in the country.According to the report by Daily Post on Friday, while presenting 50 operational vehicles fitted with communication gadgets to security agencies in Abuja, Wike said that it is not President Bola Tinubu's responsibility to identify criminals.He also added that it is not his responsibility or that of the minister of state to go after criminals in the country.
Wike said that the President's role is to provide the necessary security tools, while the security agencies are responsible for confronting criminals.He assured that security is one of President Tinubu's key priorities.The Minister explained that the government's role is to provide the necessary resources for security agencies to effectively carry out their duties.
He urged residents to support and pray for security agents who risk their lives to ensure the safety of others.He said, "For us as a government, it is not the responsibility of Mr President to go and identify where the criminals are. It is not my responsibility or the minister of state's responsibility to go and engage criminals.
