The Cole family of Victoria Island, Lagos, has publicly disowned the purported marriage of their son, Taiwo, to actress and comedian, Wofai Ewa.
The denouncement, conveyed through a statement by family patriarch Kunle Cole, has gained widespread attention online.
In the statement, Kunle Cole declared the family's ignorance of any marriage plans involving their son, Taiwo Olakitan Cole, and emphasized that no consent or support was given for such a union.
According to Punch, the family asserted that they are not associated with any individuals claiming to be part of the Cole heritage due to this alleged event.
The disavowal follows the circulation of images and videos showing Taiwo participating in what appeared to be traditional marriage rites with Wofai Ewa, a native of Ugep in Cross River State.
Amidst the circulating content, Wofai Ewa herself shared a post on social media expressing happiness and gratitude for the purported union.
Wofai Ewa, known for her roles as a chef, actress, and comedian, boasts a significant following on Instagram, with over a million followers.
However, the Cole family's statement serves as a firm rebuke against any claims of marriage between Taiwo and Wofai.
