Demolition: We are not in a banana republic; the governor is in charge of all government properties — Darlington Orji
The Special Adviser to Governor Fubara on Political Affairs, Strategy, Darlington Orji, has reacted to the claims that the governor planned to demolish the House of Assembly quarters. He stated that Rivers are not in a banana republic; the governor is in charge of all government properties. He made this statement, pointing out that if the Assembly quarters are no longer conducive to house the House of Assembly members, the governor, Fubara, has the right to demolish it.
Speaking further in an interview with TVC, Osita stated that Governor Fubara is in charge of all government properties in the state, including the House of Assembly, and if he sees fit to demolish them, there is nothing that limits him from doing so.
According to him, "We are not in a banana republic; the governor is in charge of all government properties. The oath he took is to protect the lives and properties of Rivers people, and the governor has never made any statement saying that he was going to demolish the House of Assembly quarters, but if the need arises that maybe a section is not comfortable or conducive to house the members of the Assembly as it then was, then he has the right to demolish it, because the governor is not limited to any part of Rivers State."
