May Day: ‘I stand with you in your struggle’ — Peter Obi salutes Nigerian workers

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has commended Nigerian Workers for their resilience and doggedness in the quest to build a better Nigeria.

Obi said in a letter to workers to mark the 2024 edition of Worker’s Day. May 1st every year is recognised worldwide as a day set aside to celebrate all categories of workers.

The Labour Party standard bearer assured Nigerian workers of his avowed commitment to standing with them and identifying with their struggles for a better society.

May Day: Tinubu promises better working conditions, fair wages for workers

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday pledged better living and working conditions for all Nigerians of working age, saying the “custodians of the nation’s machinery deserve a fair wage and enhanced welfare.”

Tinubu made this pledge in his maiden May Day message dedicated to workers nationwide.

The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Ajuri Ngelale, conveyed the President’s remarks in a statement he signed Wednesday titled ‘President Tinubu salutes Nigerian workers on May Day.’

According to Ngelale, the President affirmed that his administration remains committed to improving the welfare of all workers, noting the various relief programmes, including the wage award and the imminent minimum wage review.

UTME: ‘From struggle to victory’, man shares success of village students who scored 200+

Alex Onyia, the Chief Executive Officer of Educare, an education technology platform, has narrated how his platform made some students score 200 and above in the just-concluded 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Onyia, who tweets on X.com with the username @winexviv, wrote late Tuesday that his “investment” has yielded fruits after “none of the students scored below 200 in their JAMB,” adding that a few of the students even surpassed the 300 mark.

He also recalled how his cousin who scored 187 in the 2023 UTME boosted his/her results to 243 this year.

He wrote, “The investment has truly paid off, and for this, I am immensely grateful. Praising Jesus Christ for the remarkable outcomes, I’m thrilled to report that from the results collated so far, none of the students scored below 200 in their JAMB.

Coastal highway: FG to pay N2.75bn compensation today

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has disclosed that the Federal Government will, on Wednesday (today), pay N2.75 billion in compensation to property owners affected by the demolition necessary for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway spanning from channel 0 to channel 3.

He revealed this information during a stakeholders meeting held in Lagos State on Wednesday.

He said, “To show sympathy for people who voted for Mr President, we would do everything possible to pay the human face compensation.

“Today, we are paying over N2bn in compensation just from channel 0 to channel 3.”
