Rivers Crisis:There was a time eleven of us in the NASS defected to APC, we did not lose our seats— Abe

The former representative of the Rivers South-East senatorial district, Senator Magnus Ngei, has recalled that during his time as a National Assembly member about eleven members including him defected to All Progressives Congress, APC, but didn't lost their seats.

Abe said he supports the decision of the lawmakers, calling on the Rivers State Governor to maintain peace with them.

According to Vanguard, he said, "There was a time that eleven of us in the National Assembly defected to APC, we did not lose our seats. We want peace in Rivers state and we will always call for peace”.

In the same view point, recall that there has been a political crisis between the immediate past governor and his successor Fubara over the leadership of the state. There is faction in the state House of Assembly as majority of the lawmakers (27) are behind the FCT minister. Governor has been in longerhead with the lawmakers following his impeachment notice. The lawmakers who were elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defected their membership to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state. And also the Governor in his remarks has told the members that they are not recognized as lawmakers in the eyes of the law.

Besides, the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Tony OKocha has called on the members of State Assembly to impeach the Governor for making such remarks against the lawmakers.
