After joining from Ajax for over £34 million, Timber appeared to be an immediate success in preseason play and the Community Shield. However, on his Premier League debut, he suffered a cruciate ligament injury against Nottingham Forest.

In a crucial match for the Premier League championship, Arsenal will visit the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to play Manchester City. Mikel Arteta could receive a welcome boost from Timber's potential comeback.

The Dutchman has been training for the past three weeks, and he might be ready to rejoin the team before a challenging final stretch.

Journalist Chris Wheatley said in an interview with ShotsTV that Timber might make the matchday roster for the encounter at the Etihad. He is quite near. He is aiming to play in one of the next games. He might be included in the Man City starting lineup; everything is possible," he said.

"He did not participate in the friendly played against QPR behind closed doors during the international break; the only players who did so were Takehiro Tomiyasu and Thomas Partey."
