The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has paid his last respects to the late Nollywood actor, John Okafor popularly known as Mr. Ibu. He shared a media post on his visit and this has generated a lot of mixed reactions from the general public.

Obi attended the funeral ceremony in Enugu state, where he joined the Okafor family, the Nollywood Entertainment family, and other mourners to bid farewell to the late veteran Nollywood actor. He took to his social media handle, X to share the moment with his fans.

He wrote: “I was in Amuri, Nkanu West LGA of Enugu state today to pay my last respects to the talented Nollywood actor John Okafor a.k.a (Mr. Ibu). I joined the Okafor family, the Nollywood Entertainment family, and other mourners to bid farewell to the Late Veteran Nollywood Actor, who was laid to rest. May God who called him home, at this time, grant him eternal rest, and grant his family, the Actors Guild of Nigeria, and all of us, the fortitude to bear his sad irreplaceable loss. May God protect and bless his family always.”

Peter Obi's attendance at the funeral ceremony has however generated mixed reactions from the general public, with some hailing his gesture as a show of respect for the late actor while others criticized his presence, stating that it was a political move to gain popularity.

NeduGud said: "Chai May his soul rest in peace."

Felix Emeka wrote: "He will forever be in our heart. Well done our president for always been there for the common man."

Concerned Citizen commented: "May his soul Rest in Peace."
