Biden goofs, calls self ‘first black woman’

President Joe Biden has declared himself the first Black woman to serve alongside a Black president.

Biden also described himself as the “first president that got elected statewide in the state of Delaware, when I was a kid.”

These startling claims were made during a Pennsylvania radio show with host Andrea Lawful-Sanders, as Biden tried to connect with listeners.

He said, “By the way, I’m proud to be the, as I said, the first vice president, first black woman, served with a black president, proud of the first black woman in the Supreme Court.

NDDC champions girl child education

The Niger Delta Development Commission has called for prioritisation of the education of the girl child saying it holds the key to sustainable development in the country.

The commission at a ceremony on Friday marking the International Women’s Day in Agbor, Delta State, urged the various tiers of government to evolve measures that will enable the girl child to secure access to quality education.

The NDDC Chairman, Chiedu Ebie, represented by his Special Assistant, John Aleh, while speaking at the ceremony stated that “as a pivotal segment of the population, educating the girl child empowers women to succeed in all areas of life”.

A campaign coordinator of the All Progressives Congress Governorship Council in the United States, Oyakhilome Bello, has appealed to voters in Edo State not to sell their conscience for pecuniary gains despite the economic hardship ravaging the country.

The APC chieftain’s appeal, which was contained in a statement issued on Friday, comes two months before the Edo governorship election.

Three political gladiators have emerged as favourites ahead of the September 21 poll fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Gunmen invade bank in Delta, shoot security guard, others

Pandemonium struck in Ughelli, Delta State, on Friday when suspected armed robbers attacked a bank customer at the premises of a new-generation bank in the metropolis.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the gunmen numbering about five in a Toyota Venza, had trailed the unidentified customer to the bank premises, before shooting sporadically while attacking their target.

Witnesses said that the customer had yet to enter the banking hall when the gunmen struck and eventually made away with three ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags containing money.
