Rivers Assembly Crisis: Sim Fubara delayed in appealing the matter and that was why the appeal

opera.com 2024/6/1

The 27 legislators from Rivers State who were instructed by President Bola Tinubu to drop their charges against Governor Sim Fubara have ignored the president's orders. A Nigerian lawyer and native of Rivers State named Chetam Thierry Nwala claims that 27 legislators disobeyed the injunction.

While Governor Fubara withdrew his case, the other twenty-seven members of the house of assembly did not, according to Nwala, who made these remarks in an interview with Arise Television. Consequently, Justice Omotosho handed down a ruling on the matter, even though the MPs had not withdrawn.

Furthermore, Nwala mentioned that Governor Fubara had chosen not to appeal the matter, even though he had not withdrawn it. The desire to maintain the peace treaty was said to have caused Fubara to procrastinate in appealing the matter. It was not until very recently that the case was eventually appealed; Sim Fubara had previously put off doing so. Taken together, they demonstrate Sim Fubara's commitment to the peace accord.
