19-year-old pregnant girl who was attempting suicide has been rescued by police officers in Ikorodu

According to Vanguard, police officers in Ikorodu, Lagos, have rescued a 19-year-old pregnant girl who was contemplating suicide. The young woman, eight months pregnant, found herself abandoned by her boyfriend and defrauded of N100,000 by a customer while working as a POS operator. Feeling utterly helpless and alone, she saw suicide as her only way out of the dire situation.


Her life took a positive turn when female detectives from the Ikorodu Area Command, led by Area Commander Mr. Musendique Orobiyi, swiftly responded to a distress call from a concerned friend. They located her in Iyana-Iyesi, Ogun State, on the brink of consuming a deadly insecticide, sniper.

The detectives intervened promptly, preventing her from harming herself. They brought her to safety at the Ikorodu Area Command, providing her with immediate necessities such as food, clothing, and emotional support. Additionally, they offered her counseling and guidance, emphasizing alternative solutions beyond suicide. Subsequently, she was transferred to the gender unit at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja, where she continues to receive ongoing care and support.
