Senate’ll Approve Presidential Jet If Tinubu Asked – Akpabio

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has said the Senate will approve the proposal for the purchase of a new presidential jet if President Bola Tinubu requests for it.

Akpabio stated this at the plenary today, Thursday. However, he said there was no request for the approval of the purchase of a presidential jet before the Senate.

Akpabio said: “We care about the President and we care about the Nigerian people. We will approve things that will benefit the Nigerian people.

Lagos Ranks 170th, As Vienna Is Named World’s Most Liveable City

Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, has been ranked as the 170th world’s most liveable city, with Vienna (Austria) named the world’s liveable city for the third time in a row, according to a new survey published Thursday.

In the survey, the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), a sister organization of The Economist, ranked 173 cities around the world on some significant factors, including health care, education, stability, infrastructure, and environment.

In the list, Lagos, with a 42.2 per cent index score, ranked ahead of Algeria’s Algiers (42.0), Tripoli (40.1), and Damascus (30.7).


Cholera Hits Katsina With 118 Suspected Cases

The Katsina state government has reported an outbreak of cholera in the state, with 110 suspected cases identified so far, saying that two cases have been confirmed in the Kusada Local Government Area.

Kabir Suleiman, the Incidence Manager and Director of Epidemiology at the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, disclosed these figures during a press briefing held at the agency’s emergency operations centre.

Suleiman also announced that the state government has initiated plans to construct approximately 102 health facilities across various local government areas (LGAs).


Senate Extends Implementation Of 2023 Appropriation, Supplementary Acts To Dec

The Senate, on Thursday, extended the implementation of the 2023 Appropriation Act and the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Act to December 31, 2024.

This was sequel to its consideration of the request of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which was read during plenary by the Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The senators had cut short their recess which was to elapse on July 2, 2024, and returned for an emergency session to consider a bill for an act to amend the 2023 supplementary appropriation act to further extend its implementation to December 31, 2024, as requested by President Tinubu.
