Erik Ten Hag Provides Clarity On Bruno Fernandes future Amidst Growing interest From Other Clubs
Manchester United's manager, Erik ten Hag, has expressed confidence that star midfielder Bruno Fernandes will not be leaving the club this summer despite growing interest from various clubs eyeing his services, according to Metro.
Fernandes, who has been a pivotal figure for United since joining from Sporting CP in January 2020 and has served as the club captain for the past two seasons, has recently been linked with potential moves away from Old Trafford.
Earlier reports hinted at Fernandes considering new challenges away from Manchester, with clubs from Saudi Arabia and Bayern Munich reportedly interested in acquiring him.
However, ten Hag, while addressing the media ahead of United's final home game against Newcastle United, reiterated the club's commitment to retaining Fernandes.
Ten Hag opened up on Fernandes' significant contributions to Manchester United, stating, "He was a tremendously important player for Manchester United, creating the most chances across the Premier League.
So many assists, so many goals. It’s clear he’s a very important player for us."
Despite United enduring a challenging period towards the end of the season, Fernandes has continued to shine on the field, scoring eight goals and three assists in his last eight appearances.
However, he has missed the team's recent defeats against Crystal Palace and Arsenal due to injury.
