According to the report from the Vanguard, In a recent statement, former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, emphasized the need for the ruling party to establish and publish a code of conduct for its party leaders and elected representatives. Lukman conveyed this message during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program.

Using his exact words, Lukman pointed out that the current situation within the APC, exemplified by the case of Yahaya Bello, is not in line with the standards upheld by the Second Republic parties. He stressed the importance of instituting a code of conduct for elected representatives and leaders within the party, emphasizing that effective leadership hinges on trust.

Moreover, Lukman criticized how the APC has devolved into merely an election platform, resulting in the emergence of what he referred to as "disasters" among the elected representatives. He highlighted the failure of the party organs to convene and address crucial issues, noting that the national caucus had regular meetings leading up to the 2015 election, a practice currently lacking within the party.

Expressing his concern, Lukman drew attention to the delay in holding a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the APC during the eight-month tenure of former Kano Governor Abdullahi Ganduje as the party's national chairman. He asserted that this situation presents an opportunity for party leaders to reevaluate and restructure the party, as the absence of regular meetings diminishes the party's effectiveness and purpose.

Lukman went on to address the political tensions within the party, exemplifying the discord between incumbent governors and their predecessors, which he attributed to poor political management. Regarding the corruption allegations against Ganduje in Kano, Lukman hinted at the underlying political motivations behind the accusations and stressed the necessity of a political resolution to address the issue effectively.

Referring to the ongoing probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Ganduje and his family members, Lukman underscored the importance of resolving the political crisis stemming from the fallout between Ganduje and Rabiu Kwankwaso, urging a diplomatic approach to mend relationships within the party.

In conclusion, Lukman emphasized the critical need for political leaders like Ganduje to navigate political challenges prudently to prevent future crises within the party. Only through effective political engagement and resolution can the APC overcome its current challenges and foster a more stable and productive political environment.
