Troops Rescue 386 From Sambisa Forest, 10 Years After Abduction

Troops fighting Boko Haram in the Sambisa Forest, have been lauded for neutralising 21 Boko Haram terrorists, destroying their camps, and rescuing 386 victims of abduction, who have been in the bush for the past 10 years.

The Acting General Officer Commanding, GOC 7 Division, and Commander Sector 1 of the Nigeria Army, Brigadier General Abubakar Haruna, made this known when he was paying a morale-boosting visit to the soldiers.

Brigadier General Haruna addressed the troops inside the Sambisa Forest, in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, while welcoming the troops for conducting a 10-day successful operation tagged, “Operation Desert Sanity.”

FEC Mourns Ajibola

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume on behalf of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), mourns the death of the former Minister of Labour & Productivity, Prince Ajibola Afonja, aged, 82.

Afonja was appointed Minister of Labour and Productivity by the Chief Ernest Shonekan-led Interim National Government where he contributed immensely to the peaceful industrial harmony between government and labour unions.

The SGF extolled the late former Minister as a technophile, a reformist in the financial industry and an industrialist of repute, who has used his company, Integrated Dimensional System (IDS) to provide employment to teeming Nigerian youths and had also infused innovation and sanity in the financial sector when he held sway as Chairman of First Bank Nigeria Plc.


APC Has Become A One-man Show- Abba Moro

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, has advised members of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State to remain with the party.

He said all the past PDP-led administrations are far better than the current one-man show of the APC-led government in the state.

Senator Moro gave this advice on Monday during the party’s caucus meeting held at the party’s State Secretariat in Makurdi.


NDPC Grants Institute Licence To Certify Data Protection Professionals

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has granted a licence to the Institute of Information Management (IIM) to conduct examinations and certify data protection professionals.

Vincent Olatunji, NCDC national commissioner, presented the licence to the institution in Abuja on Monday.

Olatunji said certifying data protection professionals in the country would reduce capital flight and create over 500,000 jobs in the sector.
