Leicester City have secured the signing of highly-rated teenage midfielder Michael Golding from Chelsea in a deal reportedly worth around £4 million, according to a report by BBC Sports.

The 18-year-old, known for his versatility across various midfield positions, has committed to a long-term contract with the Foxes.

Golding, an England youth international, arrives at Leicester following a solitary senior appearance for Chelsea last season under manager Mauricio Pochettino. His transfer stands independently from Chelsea's recent acquisition of Leicester midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for £30 million.

Anticipated to integrate into Leicester's first-team setup immediately, Golding expressed his enthusiasm ahead of the upcoming preseason training at Seagrave starting next Monday. "I’m really looking forward to making leaps in my career here and help the team as much as I can," Golding stated in an interview with Leicester's official website.

Acknowledging Leicester's storied football history and the opportunity to learn under manager Steve Cooper, Golding added, "The history of the club speaks for itself; there are great players here and I'm looking to soak up as much information as I can. I’m very excited to learn from Steve Cooper given some of the players he has worked with and his track record of working with young players."

Leicester City's acquisition of Golding underscores their commitment to nurturing young talent and strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
