Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has claimed that he is not desperate to become President of Nigeria, but rather to see Nigeria work. Peter Obi made the statement at a town hall meeting hosted by The Coalition of Nigerian Canadian Interest Groups (CONCIG), a network of Nigerian Canadian socioeconomic and good governance organizations.
During the discussion, one of the attendees questioned the former Anambra governor if he would still run for president in the future. In response to the question, Peter Obi stated that he is not desperate to become President of Nigeria, but rather to see Nigeria succeed. He also stated that if he could find others who can do what he can, he would encourage them.
Peter Obi said and I quote;
"Well, I can tell you, I am not desperate to be president of Nigeria. I am desperate to see Nigeria work. So if I find those who can do what I can do, of course, I would encourage them."
