Rwanda head coach Torsten Frank Spitler expressed disappointment at the draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, which saw the team face Nigeria, Benin Republic and Libya in Group D. Spitler said the draw was "a bit sad" for him, especially since Rwanda was also in the same group as Nigeria and Benin in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Despite the tough draw, Spitler remains focused on leading Rwanda, also known as Amavubi, to success. Rwanda has started World Cup qualifying well with two wins and one draw from four matches and is sharing first place in Group C with South Africa and Benin. The country currently leads Nigeria by four points and is seeking its first World Cup appearance. However, the journey will be difficult as only one team will advance from Group C.

Qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is set to begin in September and Spitler remains hopeful despite the tough draw. To secure a place in the prestigious tournament, Rwanda will need to rise above the competition with determination and resilience.
