Despite the wealth of attacking expertise on the Super Eagles roster, Montpellier striker Akor Adams has expressed optimism about his prospects of making the team, according to Soccernet.ng.

Adams said to Oluwashina Okeleji, "We all have our place, and we are privileged to have so many good strikers and so many good players.”

“So, when the time comes, I’ll take the opportunity. It’s a dream for every Nigerian kid, of which I am one.

However, Adams could have to wait a long time to get called up. At least for a season, he needs to establish his worth. He might have a chance to play for the Super Eagles next season if he can improve on his goal-scoring abilities.

Adams's rise to prominence this year was a result of his €4.5 million transfer from Lillestrom of Norway. The 24-year-old striker scored seven goals in his first ten games of the season to get off to a great start.

But since then, he has become less active. As a matter of fact, Adams has not opened his account in Ligue 1 since November 2023. He has continued to play for Montpellier nonetheless.

Meanwhile, Adams has not made an impression on the global scene. The former Lillestrom player played youth football for Nigeria, but he has never made it to the three-time African champions' roster. This is a result of the team's abundance of offensive talent. Star players like Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Terem Moffi provide the Super Eagles with one of the most formidable attacks in the world. Second-choice strikers who are also performing well include Paul Onuachu, Gift Orban, Sadiq Umar, and Cyriel Dessers.

Adams is still hopeful that he will be able to play for the Super Eagles in the future, despite the abundance of stars
