The former Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, has, during an interview on The Morning Show, an Arise Television Programme, insisted that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, cannot be blamed for the crisis in Rivers State; as he maintained that it is the fault of Governor Siminalayi Fubara that he is at loggerheads with the Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Dr. Nwanosike had said, "Let's consider the fact that Wike is FCT Minister, and that the Governor is carrying on his activity as Governor as stated by the constitution, what will Wike do if the Governor is governing; he's the Governor of Rivers State, nobody's challenging him as being the Governor; Supreme Court has upheld his position as Governor of Rivers State. But there's something, a farmer cannot go to farm without his farm implement; a doctor cannot go to the hospital without his hospital equipment; so in democracy, a Governor, yes; in a democratic, yes, cannot govern without the constitution; without appropriation; without rule of law; the Governor cannot choose which order of court to obey or to disobey. For instance now, how does it concern Wike that the Governor has no relationship with his House of Assembly Members that are in the same political family with him?"
