In a recent statement, Senator Shehu Sani, a well-known human rights crusader and public commentator, has revealed plans by Atiku Abubakar and his associates to remove President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in 2027, as reported by The Sun.

Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in both the 2019 and 2023 elections, is strategizing for another attempt at the presidency.

In an interview, Senator Sani was asked if he had any regrets over the PDP's loss in the 2023 election.

He responded that it is not the fault of anyone, but the PDP itself, underlining that it is the PDP that defeated the PDP.

He explained how internal divisions within the PDP contributed to its downfall.

He stated that key figures like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, both former PDP members, formed or joined other parties, this division weakened the PDP's chances.

Senator Sani pointed out that the division of the PDP led to their defeat.

He analyzed the votes from the 2023 election, highlighting that combining Atiku’s 6.7 million votes with Obi’s 6.1 million votes would have surpassed Tinubu's 8 million votes.

He identified the loss of Peter Obi as the PDP’s greatest mistake, rather than the G5's departure.

"Well, it is not the fault of anyone, but the PDP itself because it is the PDP that defeated the PDP."

"NNPP is a product of the PDP; the Labour Party is a product of the PDP and the G5 are all products of the PDP. So, PDP divided itself into four and they wanted to confront one enemy. Who are the three? Obi is from PDP, Kwankwaso is from PDP, Wike and other G5 are all from PDP. So, a divided house led to the fall of PDP out of power and I believe that that should be a lesson."

"If you look at Tinubu’s eight million votes, if you put Atiku’s 6.7 and Obi’s 6.1, the two votes were enough to defeat Tinubu. And if you add that of one point something of the NNPP, it is even far beyond. So, the greatest mistake of the PDP was the loss of Peter Obi, not the G5," he said.
