A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Kenneth Okonkwo has expressed worry, saying he is not impressed by recent developments in the party.

Okonkwo spoke in an interview with Symfoni, a news platform on Thursday.

The presidential campaign spokesperson for the party in the 2023 election, described the LP as “a secret society led by a group of clowns.”

He added that the party lacks the integrity to take advantage of the internal crisis in other parties.

Okonkwo said he will not rule out rejoining another party if the LP continues on a “trajectory where they cannot even hold an acceptable national convention.

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of being the sole architect of the crisis rocking Rivers State in recent times.

APC noted that the Peoples Democratic Party’s allegations that APC was engaged in a plot to forcefully take over the government of Rivers State were ridiculous and baseless.

A statement by the national publicity secretary of APC, Felix Morka on Thursday said PDP offered no justification for its claim except to misrepresent and amplify the comments reportedly made by the Chairman of the Rivers state APC Caretaker Committee, Chief Tony Okocha, while sweeping under the carpet the salient issues underpinning the festering crisis in Rivers State.
