A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has raised questions about the recent Court of Appeal ruling on the defection of some lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. As reported by The Sun.

According to Eze, the court did not directly address the central issue of the lawmakers' defection, which led to their removal as lawmakers. He expressed surprise at the celebration by the affected lawmakers, given their awareness of the legal consequences of their actions.

Eze urged law-abiding citizens of Rivers State to remain peaceful and not give in to attempts by the former lawmakers to incite unrest and potentially lead to a state of emergency in the state.

"The Court of Appeal didn't entertain the major subject matter of Amaewhule and his group defecting from PDP to APC, which caused them to cease as lawmakers. So, what are they celebrating when they are aware that by defecting from PDP to APC, they ceased to be lawmakers?" Eze said. "I counsel the law-abiding citizens of Rivers State to be calm and not give in to the plot of these ex-lawmakers to ignite anarchy in the state and achieve their sinister aim of declaration of a state of emergency."
