Lebanese among 26 people arrested for living under the bridges in Victoria Island

A citizen of Lebanon living in Nigeria was among 26 people who were arrested under the bridges in various parts of Victoria Island on Thursday, April 18, 2024 by officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, popularly known as KAI.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, who disclosed this on his X handle on Thursday, added that the Lebanese as well as the 25 others were arrested under the bridges at Law School, Ozumba Mbadiwe and Muri Okunola, all in Victoria Island.

The Lebanese and some others arrested under the bridges in Victoria Island, as posted by the commissioner on Thursday.

The commissioner, who described them as "miscreants," added that the KAI operatives arrested them during an operation on Thursday morning.

He wrote: "Today, 26 miscreants (including a Lebanese) were arrested from under the bridges at Law School, Ozumba Mbadiwe and under the bridge at Muri Okunola, all in Victoria Island."

Similarly, he disclosed that 82 individuals were apprehended at Onipanu, Ladipo, Ile Epo and Oshodi areas of the state for not using the pedestrian bridges while 29 street traders were also arrested at Ikorodu Road, Ojuelegba, Yaba, Oyingbo, Victoria Island and Lekki.

According to him: "82 individuals were apprehended at Onipanu, Ladipo, Ile Epo and Oshodi for not using the pedestrian bridges. 29 street traders were also arrested at Ikorodu Road, Ojuelegba, Yaba, Oyingbo, Victoria Island and Lekki."

He added that they were all charged to the Mobile Court on Thursday but did not disclose the judgement handed to each of them.
