Nigerians Are In A Hurry To See Positive Changes- Sultan To Tinubu

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), under the leadership of its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has told President Bola Tinubu that the citizens are in hurry to see positive changes that will renew their hopes.

He also asked Nigerians to prioritise the country's unity and endeavour to keep it one indivisible nation. 

On Saturday, Sultan, the National Chairman of traditional rulers, stated these at the fifth anniversary of the 17th Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage-Mohammed (retd), in Lafia.

Nigerians are faced with what could be best described as a double whammy of fuel scarcity and poor electricity supply that left them frustrated and angry as they struggled to go about their daily lives.

From Lagos to Sokoto, Borno to Enugu and Abuja to Cross River, the story was the same – it was a harrowing experience for Nigerians across the length and breadth of the country as long queues resurfaced in filling stations, following scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, otherwise known as petrol.


Ogun Communities Protest Six-month Blackout

Residents of Ayetoro in the Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State have threatened a showdown with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company over what they termed six months of blackouts.

The residents, under the aegis of Yewa North Patriotic Forum, gave a two-week ultimatum to the IBEDC to restore power to Ayotoro and 12 other communities all in the local government area.

The youth expressed concerns over what they called the nonchalant attitude of the power company.


Dangote University Explains How Female Student Died In Her Off-campus Apartment

Tragedy struck on Thursday at the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano State, when a female student, Aishat Yahaya Olabisi, was found dead in her off-campus apartment.

Olabisi, a 300-level female student of Food and Science Technology, was said to have been found dead after she returned to her room from the school.

The deceased student was said to have written her first examination in the ongoing first-semester examination at the university on the fateful day.


International Press Institute Demands Detained Journalist's Release

The Nigerian National Committee of the International Press Institute has demanded the immediate release of Daniel Ojukwu, a journalist with the Foundation for Investigative Journalism.

This was according to a statement jointly signed by the President, IPI Nigeria, Musikilu Mojeed and the Legal Adviser/Chair, Advocacy Committee, IPI Nigeria, Tobi Soniyi, on Saturday.

PUNCH Online reports that Ojukwu was abducted by the Intelligence Response Team of the Inspector General of Police and is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti in Lagos.
