In 2014, Daniel's father and brothers fell victim to a brutal machete attack by Boko Haram militants, resulting in the tragic death of his father. The devastating incident left Daniel's family grappling with immense grief and financial struggles. Three years later, in 2017, the nightmare continued when Daniel's mother, who served as a police officer, was among 10 officers kidnapped by the same Boko Haram insurgents.

Describing the despair that enveloped his family, Daniel stated: "The future looked really bleak because my mother's income could barely put food on the table. Our older brother had to defer his university education to take up a job to help augment our mother's lean income. Three years later, in 2017, my mother was among 10 police officers kidnapped by the same terror group, Boko Haram. At this point, it felt like everyone, everything, including Providence, was against my family. However, after seven months, my mother was released back to us."
