The Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC) has announced plans to pay the last batch of outstanding backlogs of accrued pension rights to retirees of the Lagos State Civil Service.

According to THE NATION, this significant development was disclosed by the Director-General of LASPEC, Mr. Babalola Obilana, in a statement on Tuesday.

According to Obilana, the final backlog will be cleared at the upcoming 105th Bond Certificate Presentation ceremony, scheduled for July 4, 2024.

This event marks a pivotal moment for retirees who have been waiting for their pensions and underscores the Lagos State Government's dedication to the welfare of its senior citizens.

“This significant event will echo the remarkable testament of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of our senior citizens,” Obilana stated.

He further emphasized that the governor's administration has prioritized the prompt payment of pensions as part of its broader mission to support the state's retirees.

The clearing of the pension backlog is seen as a major achievement for the Lagos State Government, which has faced challenges in meeting its pension obligations over the years. The 105th Bond Certificate Presentation will not only provide financial relief to the retirees but also reinforce confidence in the state’s pension system.
