The latest court ruling on the defection story involving the lawmakers of Rivers State was seen by Oba Maduabuchi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), as essentially removing the obstacle that had been standing in the way of them carrying out their legislative responsibilities.

According to Maduabuchi, who spoke with Arise News, the defectors are now able to fulfil their legislative duties thanks to Justice Wale's ruling.

He did, however, issue a warning that Governor Siminalayi Fubara's impeachment proceedings may be imminent in light of this new information. It may only be a matter of time until the defectors, now emboldened by the court judgement, seek to remove the governor, as Maduabuchi voiced his astonishment that the impeachment procedure has not yet begun.

As he put it; They are now free to carry out their legislative responsibilities without hindrance. Wale has reached that conclusion. This grants them the authority to perform the functions of a legislator.
