Kano Police Commissioner weeps in public for accident victims

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, wept on Monday when he visited the scene of Kano latest road accident which claimed 25 lives and left 53 seriously injured.

P. M. News reports that, He also visited the hospital where the survivors are receiving treatment.

CP Dogo, who voiced dissatisfaction with irresponsible driving, asked motorists, commuters, and pedestrians to use caution when utilizing the roadways.

Mr. Dogo also led a raid on a number of flash points and hangouts for bandits and street urchins, issuing a harsh warning to leave Kano or face the full wrath of the law.

The new Kano police chief, who stated that he will continue to build on the legacy of his predecessor, Mohammed Usain Gumel, assured Kano residents that their lives and property would be adequately protected.

According to Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Spokesperson for the Kano Police Command, Dogo began visiting places of thuggery and criminal hideouts throughout Kano on July 1.

The statements read: "On July 1, 2024, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba embarked on a comprehensive visit to Sheka and Kwanar Goda Quarters where clearance operations on the activities of thugs (Yan Daba) were carried out, and also extended the visit to the scene of an unfortunate accident at Na'ibawa Flyover that claimed twenty-five (25) human lives, injured fifty-three (53) others, and resulted in the loss of valuable properties.

"The purpose of the visit was to examine the efficacy of police operations in the areas, as well as to engage with key stakeholders to provide insights into improving the state's safety and security measures."

During his visit to the locations where the operations were carried out, the Commissioner of Police spoke with personnel involved in the clearance operations and praised their diligence and dedication to maintaining law and order.
