Fubara: If I Were In His Position, I Would Have Ensured Peace And Avoided Any Disruption—Chidi Lloyd

The outgoing Emohua Government chairman, Chidi Lloyd, has criticized the Rivers State Governor Siminialaye Fubara handling the political crisis in the state.

Chidi emphasized the importance of peace, alledging that if he was the governor, he would have ensured that there is peace and avoid that will lead the state into disruption.

However, Chidi purported that he is being threatened by the governor's Chief Staff to abstain from his duties as the local government chairman.

Chidi who spoke in an interview with AIT as reported by NAN, expressed his determination to stand his ground despite alleged intimidation tactics.

He said, "All this time, the governor has portrayed himself as the victim, but today he has shown the world that he is indeed the aggressor,” Lloyd asserted. “If I were in his position, I would have ensured peace and avoided any disruptions. However, the Chief of Staff was threatening me to stay away from my local government. I am not one to shy away from challenges.”

It would be recalled that that the three years’ tenure of the elected Chairmen of Local Government and Councillors expired on the 17th of the June as provide by the Constitution.

Some protesting youths especially in Degema and parts of the Local government seized csome youths in Degema Local government Area seized control of the council secret following the expiration of the tenure of the 23 local government chairmen in Rivers State.

This comes as the Local government bosses insisted that they would not vacate office following a purported amendment on the Local Government Administration Law of the State by the Martin Amaewhule led State Assembly.
