Portugal's journey in Euro 2024 ended in heartbreak as they fell to France in a dramatic penalty shootout, with Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes featuring prominently, according to People's Person.

The quarterfinal clash remained goalless through 120 minutes, pushing the match to penalties.

France's Ousmane Dembele, Youssouf Fofana, Jules Kounde, Bradley Barcola, and Théo Hernandez all successfully converted their penalties, ensuring their place in the semi-finals against Spain.

Unfortunately for Portugal, Joao Felix's missed penalty, which struck the post, was the critical moment that decided their fate.

Fernandes played 74 minutes of the match, during which he had 69 touches and completed 42 out of 50 passes, resulting in an 84% pass completion rate.

He managed to create two key opportunities for his teammates. However, his efforts to deliver crosses and long balls met with limited success, as he completed only two of nine crosses and one of five long balls.

The United playmaker's attempts on goal included two shots, one of which was off-target. His most significant opportunity came in the 60th minute when he was one-on-one with French goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Maignan managed to parry Fernandes' shot, preventing what could have been a pivotal goal for Portugal.

Despite his efforts, Fernandes struggled in several aspects of the game.

He failed to complete any of his two dribble attempts and won only two out of five ground duels.

Additionally, he lost possession 17 times and recorded one tackle and one clearance, contributing to a challenging evening for the Portuguese side.
