A section of Kenyans on social media has reacted after a Gen Z was spotted engaging in an act as anti-riot police watched her. The young girl, dressed skimpily, approached the officers who appeared unbothered. She then started an act that has since sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans online.

The young girl was seen going in front of the officers during an event in Nairobi where youths had gathered to remember those who lost their lives fighting for better leadership in the country.

As she stood before the officers, she began dancing to a song being played by the person recording her. This action has led to a wave of reactions, with some Kenyans accusing her of seemingly provoking the police.

The recent protests against the Finance Bill 2024 saw a significant turnout of Gen Z participants. Reports indicate that many TikTokers and social media influencers took advantage of the protests to create content.

Numerous individuals were seen producing social media content while participating in the demonstrations. This has led to some Kenyans accusing the youth of not being genuine in their activism, using the protests instead as a backdrop for shooting their content.

Currently, there is an intersection of social media influence and political activism among the younger generation in Kenya as evident during the recent protests.

Do you think those large numbers represented the true activism against bad leaders and rejecting the finance bill?
