According to Vanguard News, Salihu Moh. Lukman, a former National Vice Chairman, Northwest, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that no leader of the party, including President Bola Tinubu, should dissociate themselves from the failures of the former President Muhammadu Buhari era. Lukman emphasized that the estimated failures of the former president should be a shared responsibility among APC leaders.

Lukman acknowledged that APC leaders benefited significantly from the Buhari era, which enabled the party to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015.

He credited former President Buhari for making it possible for the APC to achieve this electoral victory, without which President Tinubu's ascension to the presidency would have been difficult, if not impossible.

Lukman's statement highlights the need for collective accountability among APC leaders for the successes and failures of the Buhari era.

His comments also underscore the significant role former President Buhari played in the party's electoral victories, and the need for party leaders to acknowledge and learn from the past.

In his own words, “On balance, however, APC leaders benefited more from the Buhari era than were victims. At least electorally, former President Buhari made it possible for the APC to defeat the PDP. Without former President Buhari, the defeat of the PDP in 2015 would have been almost impossible, and by extension, arguably, it would have been difficult, if not impossible, for President Asiwaju Tinubu to become President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
