Umar Damagum, the acting National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), articulated a sentiment of pride and accomplishment within the opposition party's ranks. Reflecting on recent successes, Damagum highlighted the party's ability to unify and effectively mobilize despite facing formidable opponents. He emphasized the PDP's capacity to deliver a consensus candidate, symbolizing a cohesive and robust organizational structure.

Damagum attributed this achievement to the strategic groundwork laid by the party, affirming that it was the concerted efforts and meticulous planning that paved the way for such seamless decision-making.

According to what Umar Damagum said in the report by The Sun News, "At a time, our opponents (APC) could not put their acts together, but we in the opposition, much was expected of us, and we shamed them (APC), we produced a candidate without a dissenting voice. It is because of what we have put in place that this has been possible. During our stakeholders’ meeting, we agreed all the aspirants must come from the South, and by the grace of God, that is what happened. This shows the preparedness of the party to take over Ondo State."
