In a criminal case against the eight suspended state legislators, the Zamfara State Government has filed paperwork with the Gusau Magistrate Court.

They face charges of illegally looking for a mace in order to conduct a shadowy and illegal plenary sitting, as well as breaking into offices of the State House of Assembly. It was presented before Rukubatu Aliyu Kanoma, the Chief Magistrate. A dumped mace and some valuable items that had not yet been valued were taken by the accused on February 22, 2024, according to the State Attorney General's and Commissioner of Justice's representative.

The accused also broke into the offices of the Clerk to the House of Assembly and the Sergeant-at-Arms. Legislators Shamsudeen Hassan, Faruk Musa Dosara, Nasiru Abdullahi, Bashir Aliyu Gummi, Basiru Bello Bungudu, Amiru Ahmad Keta, Ibrahim T. Tukur, and Bashiru Abubakar were named by the Commissioner of Justice as the accused parliamentarians. In line with sections 122 (A) AND 123(1) (C) of the Zamfara State administration of criminal justice LAW-2023, the Attorney General stated that the charge against the accused individuals constituted a direct criminal complaint.

"A criminal summons or warrant of arrest may be issued against the defendants, per the complainants' hereby application," he declared. An objection was made stating that the court did not have jurisdiction to hear the matter by Ibrahim Ali, the counsel for defendants 1, 2, and 3, and Daniel Peter, the lawyer for defendants 4, 5, 6, and 7. In order for the court to decide whether or not it has jurisdiction, the case was postponed until May 30, 2024.
