The Public Relations Officer of the Abia State Police Command, Maureen Chinaka, on Sunday, June 23, 2024, told the citizens of the state that it is wrong to struggle with an armed police officer on the road.

She said this on her X handle, while adding that "one with gun is majority."

Chinaka disclosed these while responding to various comments over allegations of high-handedness, brutality as well as other atrocities being committed by operatives of the command, especially on the highways.

She said that people should cooperate with the police operatives on the road instead of struggling with any officer carrying weapons as the consequences may be fatal.

She added that if the police operative conducts himself unprofessionally after the people have cooperated, the citizens should complain to the police authorities through the complaint response unit of the command instead of confronting or struggling with a policeman carrying gun.

She therefore added that if any complaint is lodged against any police officer, the officer will be investigated and appropriate sanctions will be taken against him if found guilty.

She wrote: "It is wrong to struggle with an armed police officer on the road. Please cooperate with him. If he conducts himself unprofessionally, gather evidence and report to the CRU. We will investigate and take appropriate action if he is found guilty. One with gun is majority."

Many citizens have had very unpleasant encounters with policemen, especially those at various checkpoints, which have made them to have some disdain for the officers.
