The political dispute in Rivers State between former Governor Nyesom Wike and incumbent Governor Siminalayi Fubara has drawn the serious attention of the National Leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, Chief Edwin Clark.

Speaking with The Punch, Clark disclosed that Wike had told him their goal was to have the Fubara government make errors that would bring it to an end.

Clarifying the gravity of the issue, Clark said he had sent an open letter to the Inspector General of Police. He said that he pleaded with the police to stop Wike's followers from carrying out unconstitutional acts. But he was disappointed because his concerns had gone unanswered.

Clark cited Wike's statement: "He (Wike) then confessed that what they were doing was to cause the government to make more mistakes to disorganize them, and they would fall. Is that a call for peace? After all, they are working together."

"That was why I addressed a public letter to the Inspector General of Police, not to allow his boys to be following people who are breaching the constitution. But what did they do?"
