Any Attempt to Abandon the Law of Rivers State Will Be an Invitation to Anarchy—Martin Amaewhule

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Martin Amaewhule, has emphasised the importance of upholding the laws of Rivers State, warning that any attempt to abandon them would lead to anarchy. In a video posted by Channels Television, Amaewhule stressed that the rule of law is essential for maintaining social order and preventing a descent into chaos.

He emphasised that all laws must be obeyed, including by the governor, who cannot selectively choose which laws to follow or ignore.

According to him, "Any attempt to abandon the law of Rivers State will definitely be an invitation to anarchy. Nobody wants anarchy; nobody wants us to go back to the state of nature where life is brutish, hasty, nasty, and short. We cannot allow a situation where the government will break down, and that is why all our laws must be obeyed. Even the governor must obey the laws of Rivers State. They cannot cherry pick; the governor cannot cherry pick which one to obey and which one to disobey."
