No Short Cut To Naira Appreciation–Ned Nwoko

Sen. Ned Nwoko, has advised the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) against any measures that capable if artificially forcing the Naira to gain value against other currencies.

Nwoko, who represents Delta North, advised in a statement he signed and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja on Saturday.

He advised them to concentrate on tackling the main issues responsible for the Naira depreciation, saying there was no short-cut to success.

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has advised former Governors of the state who have nothing positive to contribute to the state to shut up and allow him deliver on the promises he made to the people.

He said those who governed the state in the past have had their time and should allow peace in the state to enable him work for the people.

The Governor who spoke while addressing members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Riders, Benue Riders Coalition for Alia and other groups who came to welcome him back to the state after his working visit to the United States of America said his government would not relents in its commitment to the wellbeing of the people.

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that Governor Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) have disappointed the residents of the state.

The party made this allegation through a statement made available to DAILY POST by its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Olawale Sadare.

DAILY POST reported that OYSIEC organised local government elections in all 33 local government areas of the state today.

The state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, had earlier declared the election peaceful.

However, the APC, through its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Olawale Sadare, alleged cases of non-availability of election officials, disenfranchisement of eligible voters, shortage of voting materials, violence, and threats to life in some parts of the state.

Abuja American Int’l school refunds Yahaya Bello’s $760,910 to EFCC

The American International School of Abuja has paid $760,910.84 to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from the $845,852 school fees allegedly deposited by former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello in respect of five of his children in the school

Bello is being prosecuted by the anti-graft body for allegedly defrauding the state to the tune of N80.2 billion.

The $845,852 is alleged to have been stolen from the Kogi State Government coffers.

But Bello vehemently denied the allegation yesterday and vowed that he would not succumb to any blackmail to “come through the backdoor.”
