The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has begun a search for individuals who violently attacked Bondo Police Station. The incident happened during nationwide protests on July 2, 2024, which turned violent in some places.

Reports say the attackers, armed with stones, catapults, petrol bombs, and other weapons, stormed the police station. They injured several police officers and caused damage to property.

The DCI announced that one suspect has been caught. The suspect was identified in a video attacking a police officer and stealing the officer's anti-riot gun. The injured officer was taken to Bondo Hospital and is in critical condition. Other injured officers were treated and released.

The DCI used CCTV footage and videos to identify individuals involved in criminal activities during the protests. They published the identities of these individuals.

During the protests against the Finance Bill 2024, businesses suffered losses from looting. Supermarkets and stalls in Nairobi CBD were targets for theft and vandalism.

The DCI acted quickly and arrested 204 suspects involved in criminal activities during the protests. The agency warned that those involved will face legal consequences.

The government emphasizes maintaining law and order during civil unrest. They urge the public to help capture remaining suspects.
