The search for a new coach for the Super Eagles has taken an interesting turn with the entry of former Sevilla coach, Joaquin Caparros, into the race, according to OwnGoalNigeria. According to sources close to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Caparros has expressed his interest in taking up the challenge of leading the Nigerian national team.

Caparros, a seasoned coach with a wealth of experience in Spanish football, led Sevilla to the Spanish second division title in 2001 and has also managed other top-tier clubs in Spain, including Deportivo La Coruna, Athletic Bilbao, Mallorca, Levante, Granada, and Osasuna. His international experience includes a stint as coach of Armenia from 2020 to 2022, where he achieved an impressive unbeaten run of nine games.

The NFF has been searching for a new coach to replace Finidi George, who exited after a disappointing outing in the last international games. With Caparros' entry into the race, the search has taken a new dimension. His experience and achievements make him a strong contender for the position.

The NFF is expected to make a decision soon, with the next international games in September fast approaching. Whoever takes up the challenge will have a big task ahead, but with Caparros' credentials, Nigerian football fans can be optimistic about the future.
