Rivers: I'm a Foundation Member of APC, Joining APC Cannot Even Be Declared by a Court—Cletus Obun

opera.com 1 day ago

In a recent interview with Arise TV, Cletus Obun, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed his strong disapproval of the recent developments in Rivers State. Obun, a foundation member of the APC, vehemently rejected the notion that 27 individuals who made a public declaration of their membership could be considered legitimate members of the party.

He emphasised that no court of law in Nigeria has the authority to declare someone a member of a political party, especially the APC. Obun's statements suggest a deep-seated loyalty to the party and a commitment to upholding its principles. He also expressed surprise that the National Assembly had not taken over the Rivers State House of Assembly, given the ongoing circumstances.

According to him, "What is happening in Rivers State would have, by now, I expect the national assembly would have taken over the House of Assembly in Rivers State. First of all, the 27 people who came and made proclamations on television and at press conferences saying that they're members of the APC I'm a foundation member of APC; joining APC cannot even be declared by a court. No court of law in Nigeria can make you a member of a political party, especially  the APC that I know of."
