United States President Joe Biden has said there is nothing that would make him consider quitting the presidential race.

After a shaky performance at the presidential debate with former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump, on June 27, there have been calls for Biden to step aside.

Some US voters, political analysts and stakeholders have also expressed concerns over the president’s health and mental alertness after the debate.

Speaking in an interview with ABC News on Friday, Biden said only the “Lord Almighty” would convince him to drop his re-election bid.

He said, “I mean if the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get outta the race’, I would get outta the race. The Lord Almighty’s not coming down. I mean, these hypotheticals

“I don’t think anybody is more qualified to be president or win this race than me.

“Look, I’m running again because I think I understand best what has to be done to take this nation to a completely new level. We are on our way. We are on our way.

My Fears For APC In 2027—Moghalu

Chief George Moghalu, one of the founding fathers of the ruling All Progressives Congress is the pioneer National Auditor of the party.

Hewas reelected to same office after four years but was midway appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority NIWA.

In this interview, the APC chieftain from Anambra state who was recently rumoured to have ditched the party for Labour Party LP, says the APC has a lot of work to do ahead of the next general election. He also speaks on the proposed single term of 6 years for the president and state governors, and also x-rayed the chances of his state Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo in the 2026 governorship election in the state.

How has life been since you left NIWA?

I would have been surprised if that question didn’t come. To answer this, I went back into private life outside politics and concentrated on my studies. It may interest you to know that I am running a law degree programme with Nile University as well as my PhD programme at the University of Abuja.

It has been very interesting. The problem people have is not being able to tell themselves the truth that whatever has a beginning must have an end. When you are given a letter of appointment it comes with an exit date to leave the stage after the duration of your tenure. And if the renewal comes, which is at the liberty of the appointing authority, then count yourself lucky.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Caretaker Committee Chairman of Rivers State, Tony Okocha has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike as the mentor of Governor Sim Fubara.

Okocha said Fubara was Wike’s political investment, stressing that the former wouldn’t have been a governor without the backing of the minister.

Featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Okocha also explained the reason behind the rift between Wike and Fubara.

According to Okocha, the need to preserve Wike’s political structure in Rivers was behind the feud with Fubara.

He said: “Governor Fubara is Wike’s political investment.

“From civil servant to the candidate of a party and delivering him in 23 local governments out of 23, the first in our history, all of these were Wike’s ability to manoeuvre.

The former governor has said, ‘I am not asking you for anything. I am only saying that you are destroying the structure that produced you.’

“If you are a politician, no politician will allow his structure to be dismantled. When you do that, it means that you have no home to fall back to. That is the issue.”

Fubara and Wike have been at loggerheads over the control of Rivers political space

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has linked the rising insecurity in the South East region to the erosion of values such as respect for human life, love, and unity among youths.

Abaribe, who represents Abia South senatorial district at the National Assembly, said it was time to revive trade schools and certifications to engage and support young people financially, preventing them from being exploited by criminals.

Speaking at the South East Youth Leadership Development and Value Reorientation Summit in Enugu on Friday, Abaribe stressed the importance of returning to the values of love, unity, truthfulness, and respect for human life to build a better future for the region.

He emphasised that by re-embracing these values, the youth can drive transformative change and create a more secure and prosperous Southeast region.

He said, “We must go back to those values upon which our communities were built, that of love, unity, truthfulness and respect for human life if we must have the kind of future that we want.”

He said that the time had come for youths in the region to fight the criminals who have continued to disrupt economic activities in the guise of demanding self-actualisation.
