Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong made his return for PAOK after seven months, contributing to a 2-1 friendly win against AEK Larnaca, as reported by Soccernet.

Troost-Ekong, a regular at PAOK, received a call-up to the Super Eagles squad for the 2023 AFCON. Initially, he wasn't expected to play a significant role due to his struggles to secure a starting spot in recent months.

However, he emerged as a crucial part of the team, playing a key role in the defence. His outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Event award, with three goals to his name.

Unfortunately, Troost-Ekong suffered an injury during the tournament and required surgery after the finals, sidelining him for the rest of the season.

He resumed training at the season's end but missed out on the Super Eagles squad for the World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin last month.

Despite this, the 30-year-old defender participated in an exhibition game to kick off his foundation in Nigeria.

Troost-Ekong returned to action for PAOK on Wednesday, helping secure a 2-1 victory over Larnaca in their first friendly of the season. The former Watford player started the game but did not find the net. PAOK has three more friendly matches lined up against Hibernian, Genk, and Union Berlin before the league season begins.
