Edo Govt Gives Shaibu 7 days To Return 22 Vehicles

The Edo State government has issued a public notice demanding the return of 22 official government vehicles currently in the possession of former Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu.

The directive in a statement signed by Chris Osa Nehikhare, Hon. Commissioner of Communication and Orientation, sets a strict deadline for compliance.

"The former Deputy Governor is given a seven-day ultimatum from today to return the vehicles," stated Commissioner Nehikhare. He emphasised that failing to do so would prompt action from relevant security agencies tasked with retrieval.

Ondo state government has allayed fears that the 33 Local Council Development Authorities, LCDAs, created by the late governor Rotimi Akeredolu, would be scrapped.

Recall that an Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure had nullified the newly created 33 Local Government Development Areas in the state, describing the LCDAs, as illegal and unlawful

Speaking in Akure, the state capital, the states Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, who allayed the fears of the people, said the government would appeal the judgment of an Akure High Court that invalidated the council areas.

Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, has presented 2,400 bags of rice and cash to the poor, vulnerable and physically challenged residents in the 23 local government areas of the state.

Speaking at the event which took place at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Fubara said the gesture was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative Food Security Programme steered by the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

She explained that through the RHI, Senator Tinubu is working in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to bring succour to Nigerians who are experiencing excruciating economic conditions to rekindle hope in them.

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has decried the magnitude of stealing by corrupt elements in the country.

He said anytime he checks case files and sees the amount stolen, he wonders how the country still exists, adding that if Nigerians saw some case files they would weep.

According to a statement on Tuesday by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the chairman stated this while receiving the management team of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission led by its Chairman, Mohammed Shehu.
